The 100% tax deduction on new cars proposed by CONCANACO SERVYTUR is a strategic move to boost domestic demand, update Mexico’s vehicle fleet, and drive sustainable mobility.
100% tax deduction on new cars to support the automotive industry
The automotive sector accounts for 4% of Mexico’s GDP and 20.5% of the manufacturing GDP. In 2024, nearly 4 million vehicles were produced, but only 34% of those sold domestically were locally made.
The proposal aims to reverse this imbalance by removing fiscal barriers and stimulating the purchase of Mexican-made vehicles.
This policy is expected to strengthen domestic production, create jobs, and increase fiscal revenues through income and sales taxes.
Fleet renewal through 100% tax deduction on new cars
Today, 48% of the national vehicle fleet is over 16 years old, contributing to pollution and inefficiency.
With this initiative, the proposal seeks to accelerate the shift toward more efficient and lower-emission vehicles.
“Renewing the fleet is essential for cutting emissions and enhancing national competitiveness,” said Octavio de la Torre.

The initiative was formally presented to the Ministry of Finance and President Claudia Sheinbaum as part of the National Crusade for Competitiveness.
This idea supports both national industry and environmental goals, aligning with Mexico’s decarbonization commitments.
This measure shows that economic growth and sustainability can move forward together, ensuring a cleaner and more competitive future for the country.
