Stellantis to Invest $90 Million Dollars into Argentine Lithium

Stellantis and Argentina Lithium & Energy Corp. subsidiary Argentina Lithium & Energy Corp. announced a $90 million investment to advance the company’s four exploration projects in Argentina.

Stellantis’ investment involves the acquisition of a 19.9% equity interest in ALE and a long-term lithium supply agreement.

Production delivery is expected to begin in 2028, marking an important milestone in Stellantis‘ efforts to meet the goals of its global “Dare Forward 2030” plan, which seeks the electrification of its vehicle fleet.

For his part, Antonio Filosa, President of Stellantis South America, emphasized that the acquisition represents an important step for Stellantis in its sustainable mobility strategy and the importance of South America in the company’s global plan.

“Lithium is an essential component in battery manufacturing, and securing a stable and sustainable supply is critical to our success in this area globally,” he said.

As part of the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, Stellantis announced plans to achieve a 100% BEV (100% electric vehicle) sales mix in Europe and a 50% BEV and light truck sales mix in the United States by 2030.

To achieve these sales targets, the company is securing approximately 400 GWh of battery capacity, including support from six battery manufacturing plants in North America and Europe.

Stellantis is on track to become a carbon neutral corporation by 2038, all areas included, with a single-digit percentage offset of remaining emissions.
