The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) and the Vice-Ministry of Transport of Paraguay presented a roadmap to implement electric mobility in urban transport.
According to official press releases, five buses are expected to be available by mid-2024 as part of the Korean cooperation.
The Vice Minister of MIC, Lorena Méndez, remarked that the meeting with the Vice Minister of Transport, Guido Benza, is part of the work within the Strategic Council of Electric Mobility.

Action Plan
The MIC brings together State institutions to implement the electric mobility plan, which proposes to replace petroleum derivatives in logistic and passenger transportation, together with the development of an electric automotive industry.
The portfolio has a cooperation agreement with the South Korean Institute of Automotive Technology (Katech), for US$ 18 million, to install an auto parts production center for electric vehicles at the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI) in Hernandarias and the transfer of knowledge.
In 2023, Paraguay presented its Electric Mobility Master Plan for Urban Public Transport and Logistics (PMME), with the potential to become a Latin American benchmark in electromobility.
This program embodies the country’s commitment to improve the environmental, economic and social conditions of the population through coordinated actions in the transportation sector.
It contemplates the replacement of 100% of the public transportation bus fleet, 50% of cabs, and the inclusion of electric bicycles in the country’s five main cities.
It also envisages the replacement of 50% of cargo trucks with electric vehicles, 50% of delivery vans and 100% of delivery motorcycles.
