Volkswagen is one of the most recognized automotive brands worldwide, therefore, its presence in Brazil is of great impact for the nation and Latin America. In that sense, it has plans to manufacture eTSI hybrid engines in the country.
This is part of a massive investment approved in the region of R$ 16 billion until 2028 for innovation and sustainable development in the automotive industry. In fact, according to reports from Brazil’s Terra media, this new Volkswagen initiative would be aimed at introducing the 1.5 TSI engine, which debuted in the European Golf in 2016, in the Latin American market.
This engine, which already powers a number of the brand’s vehicles in Europe, will feature new exclusive technologies adapted for the Brazilian context.

Details on Volkswagen’s Engine
The eTSI engine will offer power variants ranging from 130 hp and 200 Nm to 150 hp and 250 Nm, with the ability to deactivate cylinders to optimize fuel consumption. In addition, the option of variable geometry turbochargers will be included.
On the other hand, the possible association of the engine with a plug-in system in some higher value-added models will allow Volkswagen to offer a range of even more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles in the Brazilian market.
Furthermore, the possible implementation of the new MQB Hybrid platform in its new cars in Brazil will provide the necessary technological basis for the integration of eTSI hybrid engines, as well as for future innovations in the electrification of the brand’s product range.
Finally, with this important step Volkswagen makes clear its long-term vision for the Latin American market, where it seeks to lead the transition to a more sustainable and efficient mobility.
