BYD Prepares Offensive in Brazil: Unloads More Than 5,000 Cars in One Day

The automotive giant BYD has made a significant move in the Latin American market with the arrival of a shipment of cars at the Port of Suape in Pernambuco, unloading more than 5,000 vehicles in just one day.

Among these cars are hybrid and fully electric models, ready to conquer Brazilian streets as part of the Asian brand’s expansion strategy in the Latin American market.

“Brazil is now BYD’s largest market outside Asia. Therefore, the construction of our factory in the state of Bahia is progressing rapidly. By the end of this year, we will begin assembling cars in Bahia, and from next year, BYD will produce the most efficient and technologically advanced cars on home soil,” said Alexandre Baldy, BYD’s special advisor.

Details About the BYD Shipment

The journey of the vehicles from China to Brazil was a 27-day odyssey, culminating in the unloading of 5,549 cars. The fleet includes a mix of hybrid and pure electric cars, ready to continue leading the Brazilian automotive market.

This market has proven to be fertile ground for BYD’s expansion. So far this year, the company has sold more than 25,500 vehicles in Brazil, representing a 43% increase compared to the entire year of 2023, when it sold 17,900 units.

Thus, the massive arrival of BYD vehicles boosts sales while the presence of these new vehicles is expected to promote the development of more charging stations and services related to electric mobility in Brazil.
