Construction of Charging Center for Electric Buses in Chile Over 50% Complete

The upcoming charging center for electric buses, to be managed by the company Trolebuses de Chile, is progressing as planned. This was confirmed by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, who, along with other regional authorities, conducted an inspection visit to the site.

This project, which has advanced over 50%, is scheduled for completion in August. It is located in the Curauma Industrial Park in Placilla and will cover more than 5,000 square meters.

The facility will allow the simultaneous charging of 36 buses, thus facilitating efficient management of vehicle dispatches. “This project reflects our commitment as a ministry to improving public transportation in Greater Valparaíso,” said Muñoz.

Sustainable Mobility in Chile

Soon, Trolebuses services will be integrated tarifarily, as they will act as feeders for EFE Valparaíso stations in the commune. Users will be able to use a single card to access electric services, trolleybuses, elevators, and the Limache-Puerto Train, benefiting from a reduced fare when combining different modes of transport.

“There will be capacity here to charge 36 vehicles simultaneously, and the main offices for the new routes will also be located here—two in Placilla, one in Playa Ancha, one in Rodelillo, and another in Cerro San Roque—all converging towards our trolleybus hub, connecting to the Barón Metro station. This will be an interesting and productive project that will provide Valparaíso with the quality of public transportation that this city deserves and should aspire to in the future,” commented Juan Massai, president of Trolebuses de Chile.
