Chile Records 106% Increase in Sales of Low Emission Vehicles in the First Half of the Year

Registrations of vehicles with zero and low emission technologies in Chile grew by 106% during the first half of 2024, with 7,268 units sold, according to the latest report of the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC).

The guild detailed that in June, 1,933 vehicles were sold, with an expansion of 125.8%.

By type of vehicle, ANAC indicated that conventional hybrids (HEV) are the most sold category, closing the first half of the year with 2,770 units registered, with 88% growth.

Meanwhile, 100% electric models (BEV) registered 1,735 units sold as of June, with an increase of 125%. It is worth noting that during May these cars registered an increase of 133.2% with 1,364 units sold.

According to information provided by ANAC, in May the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC) registered the installation of 28 new public charging points, accumulating 210 in the January-May period.

Among the public facilities, the new recharging points developed by COPEC Voltex in the Clover Mall in the Biobío region stand out, as well as three new public charging points in the commune of San Miguel developed by Copec Voltex in conjunction with the Metropolitan Region Development Corporation.

Likewise, the new ENEX Pro (Shell) electrolineras developed at Shell service stations.
