A Country with Potential
TIP assures that Mexico emerges as an attractive alternative for nearshoring, highlighting its strategic geographic position with access to two oceans, efficient customs for border crossing with the United States, competitive wages, a significant working age population, interconnected transportation infrastructure and favorable trade agreements such as the Mexico-US-Canada Treaty (T-MEC).
“Although Mexico presents significant advantages, areas of opportunity are also identified, especially in transportation infrastructure investment and modernization projects,” says the TIP Mexico report.
The company affirms that logistics will take on a greater role thanks to Nearshoring since, in response to the Covid-19 crisis, logistics companies demonstrated rapid adaptation, prioritizing agility and flexibility to maintain high standards of customer service.
TIP Mexico refers to the fill rate indicator, (which measures the proportion of complete deliveries), detailing that it returned to high levels in 2022, highlighting the industry’s ability to mitigate risks and continuously improve, especially in the e-commerce sector.
“Transportation outsourcing experienced a post-pandemic boom, driven by the quest for greater cost control and delivery efficiency,” TIP explains.
“This trend of collaborating with transportation providers is expected to continue to increase, highlighting the importance of considering factors such as pick-up zone, move times and load capacity,” it adds.
