The Institute of Mobility of the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico (Imoveqroo) plans to present a specialized study on the project “Electromobility for public transportation in the municipality of Benito Juarez” by 2025.
According to the local media “Novedades de Quintana Roo”, the report will be fundamental to plan the transition towards the use of electric vehicles in the public transportation corridors of the Metropolitan Zone of Cancun, an important tourist destination in the Mexican Caribbean.
Among the objectives are Capacity Mapping to assess the existing infrastructure and the potential for the introduction of electric buses in an orderly and sustainable manner.

It also includes Corridor Design to develop the planning and design of specific corridors for electric vehicles, covering technical, administrative and financial aspects.
Another line of action is the Improvement of Mobility, in order to establish the basis for a more modern and efficient public transportation system, free of fossil fuels, which will improve the quality of life of inhabitants and visitors.
The transition to electromobility seeks to promote cleaner and more sustainable urban mobility, in line with the objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality in the region.
The contract was signed with the consulting firm in charge of the study on June 4, 2024, and there is a seven-month deadline for delivery.
Latam Mobility in Mexico
After a successful start to the year in Monterrey, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, closes 2024 in Mexico City.
There will be two days, on October 15 and 16, where industry leaders and private sector representatives will provide perspectives on mobility, electromobility, sustainability, among others.
