The governor of Nuevo León, Mexico, Samuel García, along with Siemens executives and state authorities, inaugurated the “Mitras” plant, located in Santa Catarina, with an investment of 1.1 billion Mexican pesos and the creation of 450 jobs.
The regional leader emphasized that it is a source of pride for the state that the German company decided to expand next to the existing plant, rather than choosing to diversify or move to another city.
According to El Economista, García also acknowledged that Siemens has been in Mexico for 130 years, where it offers the world the best innovation.
“I witnessed technologies that I once thought were far off: Artificial Intelligence (AI), battery production, and even a metaverse for designing construction and industry.”

Strong presence in Nuevo León Governor García highlighted that Siemens has “a unique company in the region, where circuit breakers are produced, one every three seconds, and I was told that 80% of the production is exported.”
He emphasized that Nuevo León has undoubtedly become the logistics hub of northern Mexico, which has given companies the confidence to settle or expand in the city. “Nuevo León is today, without a doubt, the logistics hub of northern Mexico, not just the northeast.
For the state government, this type of inauguration, but especially expansions, fills us with pride. Today, Nuevo León is the economic engine of Mexico, without a doubt,” García stated. He pointed out that Nuevo León is the leader in formal employment and doubles the export records.
“Three-quarters of the nearshoring projects have come to Nuevo León; these 270 projects that have been registered or started in the state from 2021 to date fill us with pride because it means they have trusted in the benefits of this land to produce and invest,” the governor mentioned.
