Paraguay’s Deputy Ministers of Transport and Industry, Emiliano Fernández and Lorena Méndez, met with their respective technical teams to analyze the challenges related to the implementation of electromobility.
According to the country’s official media, the authorities discussed the strategies and measures needed to advance in the adoption of electric mobility in the transport and industry sectors, stressing the importance of integrating these technologies in future development plans.
In addition, they evaluated current projects, identified areas for improvement and defined steps to be taken to ensure efficient and sustainable progress in this key area for modernizing infrastructure and boosting environmental sustainability.
Upcoming Plans
As part of the effort to promote sustainable mobility, the Vice Ministry of Transportation will receive 30 electric buses through the support of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The implementation of these transport units represents a significant step towards the modernization of the public transport system, in line with the objectives of reducing emissions and improving the quality of service.
Paraguay has developed important strategies and legislation, with the goal of massifying sustainable mobility in all its regions. In this regard, Paraguay’s Master Plan for Multimodal Electric Mobility for Urban Public Transport and Logistics was presented.
This is a public policy tool complementary to the National Strategy for Electromobility that will establish the general and specific guidelines for a transition to the electrification of public and logistics transportation (including freight) in Paraguay.
The regulation defines the minimum quality criteria, a framework of measures, activities and programs to advance in the implementation of quality public transportation, low in emissions and that responds to the guidelines established in the National Development Plan Paraguay 2030, the National Determined Contributions (NDC) and the National Strategy for Electric Mobility.
