General Motors is Committed to a Sustainable and Efficient Production Ecosystem in Mexico

The General Motors plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, has a great impact on the country and the region with the production of electric vehicles such as the Blazer and Equinox EV, and is preparing to manufacture the Cadillac OPTIQ in 2024.

Francisco Garza, President and CEO of General Motors de México, highlighted the relevance of the Ramos Arizpe complex, as it is one of the five most important in North America in the production of electric vehicles.

In a review by Cluster Industrial, Garza emphasized the company’s commitment to a sustainable and efficient production ecosystem, driven by more than 620 domestic suppliers, to meet the demands of today’s market.

High Production

The plant has diversified its production with electric models such as the Chevrolet Blazer EV, whose production began in the third quarter of 2023 and is expected to be available in the Mexican market before the end of 2024.

In the first quarter of 2024, production began on the Chevrolet Equinox EV, which has been available in Mexico since August, following a pre-sale in June.

In addition, it was announced that production of the Cadillac OPTIQ electric SUV will begin in the last quarter of 2024, aimed primarily at the North American market with plans for sales in Mexico by 2025.

The governor of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez Salinas, highlighted the relevance of the economic relationship with the United States and Canada in the industrial development of the region, highlighting Coahuila as the main producer of vehicles in Mexico, both gasoline and electric, thanks to investment in innovation and technology.

Latam Mobility in Mexico

After a successful start to the year in Monterrey, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, closes 2024 in Mexico City.

There will be two days, on October 15 and 16, where industry leaders and private sector representatives will provide perspectives on mobility, electromobility, sustainability, among others.
