The electric bus model that will make up the first sustainable fleet, a project promoted by the municipality, was presented in the El Bosque district of Santiago de Chile.
During the event, the model of the three Zhongtong electric buses, 8.7 meters long, equipped with low floor and capacity for 24 seats, was revealed.
In statements reported by the local media “g5 Noticias”, Governor Claudio Orrego, expressed his enthusiasm for this important initiative, emphasizing that recovering the city for the people implies guaranteeing safe and environmentally friendly mobility.

“We are happy to invest $786 million in 3 electric buses for El Bosque, a project that promotes a more sustainable mobility and greater equity in the territory,” said the authority.
“We want to mark the beginning of the creation of ecosystems, which allow electromobility not to be a luxury exclusive to those with greater resources, but to be available to the entire community”, he added.
Unit Features
The new electric buses stand out for their energy efficiency and advanced technology. Equipped with 40 USB ports, 6 security cameras, rear camera, LED light system, electronic sign and a total capacity for 63 passengers, these buses offer an accessible and safe service.
In addition, they have a range of up to 200 kilometers and wheelchair access ramps, making them inclusive and suitable for all users.
The three new buses will strengthen the transportation routes in El Bosque, with special attention to senior citizens and people with disabilities, facilitating their access to the implementation of municipal plans and programs.
They will also connect more remote areas with municipal activities, improving mobility throughout the commune. As of March 2025, these buses will offer free transportation.
