The Regional Government of Chile’s Bus, Minibus, Trolleybus, Taxibus and Collective Bus Renewal program seeks a more efficient use of fuel to offer a better service and safety for users.
In 2023, the initiative enabled the modernization of 72 units, 75% of which correspond to rural routes, and 46 collective cabs.
Along with this balance, Governor Óscar Crisóstomo indicated that with the programs Renueva tu Micro and Renueva tu Colectivo 2023, more than 2,500 million pesos were invested, which has allowed the modernization of both colectivos, taxicolectivos and urban and rural buses.

“The plan has allowed us to provide better comfort to our passengers, to our users, to our neighbors,” he said. He added that, together with the closing of this process, “we are going to open another one immediately, because the Regional Council has already approved an investment of 3,500 million to be able to continue modernizing the public vehicle fleet in Ñuble”.
Sum of Efforts
In addition to thanking the commitment of the Regional Council and the Seremía de Transporte in this joint work, he valued the commitment of the unions that have joined in this process.
“They are very strong because additionally we are working on an agreement to start from the year 2025 to have the first electric buses and we also hope to advance in buses and electric cabs for our region,” Crisóstomo stressed.
Jorge Pérez, representative of the Transport Union, highlighted the benefits that the initiative has brought them. “We are proud of the vehicle fleet that we currently have with these programs and that we hope they will continue, that they will help us on this path to reach electromobility.”
“I am a witness that the public, our users, are very happy to travel in buses that offer heating, internet, pleasant music and, above all, the drivers are much happier because the technology has helped us to make driving much better,” he said.
Chile, with strong leadership in electromobility in its capital Santiago, is focusing efforts to bring these zero-emission technologies to the regions.
