Mexico Publishes First Regulation for Integration of Charging Infrastructure

Mexico’s Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) published the “General administrative provisions on electromobility for the integration of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles to the National Electric System as part of a Smart Grid”.

This is the first regulation on electromobility issued by the regulatory agency and contemplates the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

The Provisions state that the CRE will have a term of no more than 24 months (two years from the entry into force of this regulation) to develop and put into operation an IT platform that will keep the registry, monitoring and evolution of the charging infrastructure for electromobility.
