The Public Library of Frutillar, Chile, hosted the launch of the Municipal Innovation Center for Energy and Electromobility (CIME2), the first municipal innovation center in the region.
The initiative is promoted by the innovation and development office of the Municipality of Frutillar, together with the Chilean-German Industrial High School of the same commune and the support of the Regional Innovation Center of Los Lagos.
During the activity, two talks related to electromobility, renewable energies and artificial intelligence were given by Rodrigo Palma, PhD in Engineering and Researcher at the Energy Center of the University of Chile, and Nicolás Beghelli, Co-Founder of MInverso, the first mining metaverse in the world and one of the 9 metaverse platforms worldwide.
The Mayor of Frutillar, César Huenuqueo, valued the initiative as a commitment to introduce these topics in the education of students in the commune.
“Three and a half years ago we decided to create a municipal office of innovation and development, where the idea was generated and one of the fundamental topics was energy and electromobility, we are very pleased with the public-private collaboration involved in this work,” he said.
Articulation
Rodrigo Palma, researcher at the Energy Center of the University of Chile, highlighted the public-private articulation to make known the new trends in electromobility and renewable energies.
“The public and private world, the young world, education, it was very nice, I think it is a very good starting point for this innovation center, which I think looks to the future”.
Mauricio Henriquez, Corporate Affairs Manager of wpd Chile, outlined the company’s vision for the country’s energy transition, emphasizing that the operation of renewable energy parks requires human capital.
“Through our participation in initiatives such as this, we want to promote the education of the local community, which plays a fundamental role in the decarbonization of the country’s energy matrix,” he said.
