With the goal of promoting sustainable mobility, Codelco presented a new batch of electric vehicles in Chile, specifically by adding 65 buses to its Ramiro Tomic Division.
This division is located in the north of Calama, Antofagasta Region, and is part of the plan to transport about 800 workers from the Regional Directorate of Transport and Communications.
“We have added 250 electric buses to the company, which make up the largest fleet of these vehicles in the national mining industry and are part of making our purpose a reality: we want to be a pillar of sustainable development for Chile and the world,” said Rubén Alvarado, CEO of Codelco.

“We are fully entering the era of electromobility with these 65 buses. Also, by 2026, contracts with 100% renewable energy will be in place, and the first cubic meters of desalinated water will arrive,” commented Julio Díaz, General Manager of the Radomiro Tomic Division (DRT).
“The way we will operate in the division must meet the highest sustainability standards,” he concluded.
