General Motors Drives Charging Network Expansion in the U.S.

General Motors, in partnership with EVgo, is moving forward with the expansion of the fast-charging network in the United States.

The collaboration will bring 400 new fast-charging stations to key cities, improving access for electric vehicle drivers.

The stations will feature 350 kW chargers, abundant lighting, canopies, drive-through stations and security cameras.

They are designed to set a new standard in the electric vehicle charging landscape, responding to the growing demand for convenient, reliable and customer-centric charging solutions in the markets that need them most.

Most flagship stations will have up to 20 charging stations, with some locations offering significantly more.

This will ensure critical charging hubs to serve the growing number of EV drivers on the road. The stations will be deployed from coast to coast, including metropolitan areas in states such as Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York and Texas.

Co-branded by EVgo and GM Energy, they will be located near a variety of amenities such as stores, restaurants and coffee shops, allowing drivers to take advantage of these while charging their vehicles.

Dennis Kish, EVgo President, noted that the future of electric vehicle charging involves locations with larger numbers of stalls, high-powered charging, and designs focused on features such as drive-through access and convenient amenities.

“To be the charging provider of choice, we need to lead in customer satisfaction and will continue to innovate to deliver a charging experience that is convenient, comfortable and reliable,” he said.

The first flagship station is expected to open in 2025. The new stations will use prefabrication approaches to accelerate construction times and offer modularity for future expansion.
