Dominican Republic: Renewed Plan to Strengthen Mobility

The Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (Intrant) of the Dominican Republic announced the relaunch of the regulation and control program “Parquéate Bien” (Park Well), with the purpose of promoting mobility and road safety.

The announcement was made by the executive director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, at the closing of the National Week of Sustainable Mobility 2024, which included the pedestrianization of the Naco widening.

The authority emphasized that as a matter of State continuity, and knowing that the program has been lagging behind in recent times, they are relaunching it with a series of novelties.

New Regulations

Morrison announced that the new features range from the increase in the number of tow trucks, the number of vehicles towed daily, the assignment of fixed units per sector, night operations from Thursday to Saturday, extension of operating hours, the presence of tow trucks at critical points during the night and the integration of Neighborhood Councils.

The president of the Neighborhood Council of Ensanche Naco, Valentín Ramos, thanked Intrant for its receptiveness to the proposed solutions to the traffic problems in the city, while indicating that the challenge of promoting sustainable mobility is everyone’s responsibility.

“A pedestrian morning in Naco”, included a series of recreational activities for the enjoyment of the whole family, and counted with the participation of more than 20 companies, institutions and universities, with the special collaboration of the Mayor’s Office of the National District.

It should be noted that from September 22 to 29, the seventh edition of the National Week of Sustainable Mobility was held, with the objective of promoting the benefits of the use of more sustainable transport such as the collective, bicycles, travel on foot and likewise provide information on the current Integrated Public Transport System (Metro-Teleferico-Public and private bus corridors-Bicycles).
