Pope Francis is touring Asia Pacific countries aboard a Hyundai Ioniq 5, a 100% electric vehicle.
The transformation that vehicles have undergone in recent years is leading the Vatican to adapt to electric mobility to carry a message of sustainability.
Pope Francis has shown himself on several occasions and in various speeches as an advocate of sustainability and care for the environment.
In 2017 he was already seen in a Nissan Leaf and a year later he paraded in a hydrogen Toyota Mirai.

Vehicle Details
This 100% electric vehicle went on sale in Spain at the end of 2021, according to the portal El Motor. It was the first model of Hyundai’s electric family. It is no longer alone in the range, but enough time has passed since it was launched on the market.
In addition to mounting specific bumpers, skirts and rims, it has both off-road tires and a higher ground clearance of 23 millimeters, which offers more guarantees when facing roads and obstacles.
The capacity of its batteries is also improved. The access one goes from 58 to 63 kWh, which improves the range, according to U.S. homologation, from 354 to 380 kilometers.
The top one goes from 77.4 to 84 kWh, achieving a greater range that depends on the variant: the rear-wheel drive one reaches 500 kilometers, while the all-wheel drive ones, with various power levels, range from 402 to 451 kilometers.
