Postobón launches prototype of electrically-assisted last-mile vehicle

In collaboration with Universidad EAFIT through its institutional program Kratos, Postobón has officially unveiled the prototype of the Electrically-Assisted Last-Mile Vehicle.

This design aims to address the challenge of optimizing beverage distribution in the La Bayadera sector of Medellín, enhancing logistics and promoting a more efficient and sustainable transportation model, aligned with urban environmental demands.

The vehicle is designed to carry up to 500 kg of cargo, reach a maximum speed of 12 km/h, and tackle slopes of up to 8%, making it ideal for urban areas with varied terrain.

Its 15 km autonomy allows it to efficiently complete a distribution shift, while its structure, made with Tetra Pak (a sustainable material), contributes to environmental sustainability and care.

Sustainable mobility

This new vehicle joins the seven previous projects developed by Kratos in collaboration with Postobón, including the VTE (Electric Traction Vehicle), designed to maximize the distance traveled with the least energy consumption in the shortest possible time.

Also notable are the VRK (Kratos Recycling Vehicle) and the VRE (EAFIT Recycling Vehicle), created to promote inclusive ecological mobility. These vehicles initially focused on improving the working conditions of recyclers with a human-powered prototype assisted by electricity, later evolving into a vehicle optimized for waste collection within the university campus.

Other key projects from this partnership include the VES (Electro Solar Vehicle), the CANSAT (a miniature satellite launched into the stratosphere inside a can of Manzana Postobón), the VTH (Human Traction Vehicle), and the EO (Organizational Strategy).
