Costa Rica will have 14 new charging stations

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) announced the installation of 14 new charging stations for electric vehicles to strengthen the existing infrastructure.

According to La República, the stations will feature at least three fast chargers, will be located in strategic points, and will offer services to users, such as lounges, sanitary facilities, and wireless internet connection.

This project is part of the institution’s Business Strategy, which aims to electrify the economy and promote the use of clean energy. Currently, ICE operates 38 fast chargers within its concession area.

Meeting the demand

With the addition of the new stations, whose construction will be completed in the first half of 2026, the goal is to meet the growing demand and facilitate access to this service across the country.

Verny Rojas, ICE’s Electricity Manager, assured that the institution reaffirms its commitment to electric mobility to contribute to a cleaner and more efficient future.

“We appreciate the support of the users, and we are confident that these improvements will positively impact the adoption of sustainable vehicles,” he said.

As part of these enhancements, the ¡ES ELÉCTRICO! application, which already has more than 14,000 members, will be updated to include new payment options, such as the use of credit or debit cards, in postpaid or prepaid modes through an electronic wallet.

In addition to this project, ICE is working on the development of electric public transportation, a fundamental pillar for the transition to a sustainable transportation system.
