The governor of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, confirmed that efforts are underway to explore the possibility of establishing a new electric vehicle assembly plant in the region.
He explained that the BMW high-voltage battery assembly plant will soon begin operations, which will open opportunities for auto parts suppliers focused on electromobility.
In statements reported by local media, the governor highlighted that this high-voltage battery assembly plant will enable collaboration with various car brands and the provision of equipment for millions of vehicles worldwide.

A Niche to Explore
Gallardo stated that San Luis Potosí has a unique opportunity to leverage this type of synergy in the electromobility sector.
He added that there is still land available to attract other companies, not only those focused on the automotive industry, as proposals have also been received for industrial projects in other manufacturing and transformation sectors.
Moreover, Steell Dynamics, a company specializing in industrial aluminum processing, is set to begin operations in the region shortly.
