The presentation of the Olinia project has had a significant impact on Mexico’s plans to expand electric mobility and contribute to environmental conservation.
The goal is to encourage the use of these vehicles, which is why the Mexican government has been offering some incentives since last year for those who own these vehicles.
The exemptions include:
- Discounts on toll booths on highways in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
- Exemption from paying the federal tax on new cars (ISAN).
- Deduction of income tax (ISR) for the depreciation of electric vehicles for any taxpayer.
- Deduction of 25% of ISR for investments in conventional bicycles, bicycles, and motorcycles powered by rechargeable electric batteries.
- Reduction of up to 285 pesos per day per vehicle from ISR for the use or temporary enjoyment of cars powered by rechargeable electric batteries, as well as for electric cars that also have an internal combustion engine or a hydrogen-powered engine.
These vehicles can even be charged at home outlets or parking lots, and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) offers free installation of meters for charging stations so that charging does not increase consumption, shifting from a domestic rate to a high domestic consumption rate.
