The purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in Mexico grew by 84% in 2024, according to data provided by Electro Movilidad Asociación (EMA).
The organization reported in a statement that the number of units sold totaled 69,713, marking a record.
The report also highlights that sales of hybrid vehicles grew by 155%, compared to a 37% increase in electric car sales.

EMA detailed that the fleet of zero-emission vehicles in the country now stands at 107,633 units, with a nearly equal split: 50.3% electric and 49.7% plug-in hybrids.
Charging infrastructure at the end of 2024 grew by 5% compared to the third quarter, reaching 45,055 connectors available nationwide.
The association specified that public direct charging points, primarily used for long-distance trips, grew by 6.5% compared to the third quarter.
Meanwhile, private charging stations—those located in homes, car dealerships, and company parking lots—grew by 5%.
Last year, 5 million trips made by electric vehicles connected to private transportation platforms accounted for a total of 66,433,127 green kilometers. Additionally, members of the organization financed more than 5,399 electric and hybrid vehicles.
