Mexico: Ministry of Mobility seals agreements with the IDB mobility division

The Ministry of Mobility of Mexico met with representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Mobility division.

During the meeting, it was agreed to continue with the studies developed in 2024 to support the technical-financial structuring that ensures the feasibility of the priority projects and to continue progressing in the process.

Before Ana María Pinto, Global Head of Mobility at IDB, Daniel Andrés Sibaja González, Minister of Mobility, reported that agreements have been made with this international organization so that Semov receives non-reimbursable resources to obtain specialized technical assistance to professionalize and improve public transportation services in the State of Mexico.

Key Financing

Sibaja assured that, with the combined efforts of international organizations such as the IDB, Federal, State, and Municipal authorities, private sector and transport operators, it will be possible to transition towards electromobility in a sustainable and successful manner.

He mentioned that a very important alliance has been developed with the IDB in terms of technical advisory for the electrification of public transportation, the professionalization of operators and services, as well as for the renewal of the vehicle fleet.

He stated that the coordinated work aims to analyze in detail the challenges, perspectives, and implications that exist at an institutional level to implement a strategy that facilitates the transition to sustainable and zero-emission mobility with electric vehicles, as well as to establish a charging infrastructure for these units in the region.
