The Governor of Sonora, Mexico, Alfonso Durazo Montaño met with executives from the company Foxconn to establish an Electromobility Ecosystem in the state, where the sustainable development promoted over the last three years with the implementation of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan can be leveraged.
The state leader stated that he held a meeting with company executives who have investments of around 244 million dollars, to present the competitive advantages that Sonora offers for the development of electromobility, especially in the area of electric trucks, electric cars, and battery manufacturing.
The governor mentioned that there is a work plan established with this company so that Sonora can develop this type of business in the electromobility and semiconductor industry, aligned with sustainable development.
Commercial Partnership
Durazo reported that they will soon receive a Foxconn trade mission in Sonora. “This is one of the first agreements we have; they are coming to visit the state and verify all the comparative advantages we presented to them in our presentation.”
“If any of these projects materialize, it would obviously transform the state, giving it extraordinary advantages in terms of electromobility, particularly for battery manufacturing and electric car production, which are, by far, the economy of the future,” he added.
Francisco Acuña Méndez, President of the Sustainable Development Council of the State of Sonora (Codeso), mentioned that during this work tour, there was also a meeting with the group of 30 young Sonorans who are currently training in electromobility and semiconductors in Taiwan. With their talent, they become ambassadors, both abroad and in the state, when one of these companies decides to establish itself.
