An analysis by Fenalco Antioquia indicates that Colombia has experienced exponential growth in the registration of new hybrid and electric vehicles over the past two years.
In 2024, 9,178 new electric vehicles were registered, representing a 150% increase compared to the previous year (3,677 registrations).
Meanwhile, 2025 began with solid growth, as 966 new electric vehicles were registered in January: 345% more than in 2024 (217 registrations).
María José Bernal Gaviria, executive director of Fenalco Antioquia, stated that the department, in addition to also showing exponential growth, is an “important client” of electric vehicles.
By the numbers
In 2024, 1,684 new electric vehicles were registered, representing a 52.3% increase compared to the previous year (1,106 registrations).
Antioquia accounted for 18% of these vehicles, making it the second-largest demand area after Bogotá DC (which is the largest market for this sector, with 57%).
Regarding hybrids: in 2024, 7,361 new hybrid vehicles were registered, representing a 51.1% increase compared to the previous year (4,872 registrations).
