Volvo Cuts CO2 Emissions by 26% with its Electric Vehicles

Volvo reduce emisiones de CO2

Volvo has achieved a 26% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions thanks to the expansion of its electric vehicle lineup, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility and a fossil-free future.

The Volvo EX30 stands out as the company’s most environmentally friendly model to date. According to its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) report, the vehicle has a total carbon footprint of 23 tons per 200,000 km driven—around 60% lower than that of the combustion-powered XC40.

This progress was made possible by incorporating recycled materials into the EX30: roughly 25% of its aluminum, 20% of its steel, and 17% of its plastic components are recycled.

When charged using wind-generated electricity, the car’s environmental impact is further reduced—highlighting the urgency of scaling up renewable energy worldwide.
