The city of Bucaramanga and its Metropolitan Area have made a significant leap toward sustainable mobility in Bucaramanga by incorporating 30 light-duty trucks powered by natural gas (GNV). The initiative, led by DFAC Dongfeng, Equirent, Huevos Kikes, and Grupo Vanti, aims to reduce emissions and boost the region’s logistics efficiency.

Clean and efficient fleet for urban logistics
The newly deployed trucks are single-cab Captain T models, classified as ultralight with a 2.5-ton capacity and a 14 m³ cargo volume. Operating solely on GNV, they offer fuel savings of over 50% compared to conventional alternatives.
These vehicles meet stringent Euro VI standards, ensuring near-zero emissions. This transition is expected to cut 120 tons of CO₂ per year, further supporting sustainable mobility in Bucaramanga.
Erick Gutiérrez, General Manager at Magma Automotive, emphasized that 40% of DFAC Dongfeng’s sales now come from natural gas-powered vehicles, signaling strong market demand for clean and cost-effective transport solutions.
Public-private collaboration toward sustainable mobility
Grupo Vanti has joined the initiative, offering technical guidance and incentives to help tailor the vehicles to local conditions. John Jairo Contreras, Vice President of Key Accounts at Vanti, highlighted the project as a successful example of how GNV can serve as a viable alternative for freight and urban transport.
This deployment adds to Huevos Kikes’ previous launch of 50 similar trucks in Bogotá and reinforces its corporate commitment to sustainable mobility in Bucaramanga and other urban centers across Colombia.
