Sustainable Mobility in Colombia: Minister Strengthens Alliances with China

Sustainable mobility in Colombia

Sustainable mobility in Colombia will take center stage at Latam Mobility Colombia 2025, where Transport Minister María Fernanda Rojas is set to deliver the opening remarks.

In line with this role, her participation in a recent high-level mission to China, alongside President Gustavo Petro, aimed to consolidate international alliances that support the shift toward cleaner, more efficient, and smarter transport in the country.

This strategic visit included a historic meeting with President Xi Jinping and sessions with key figures such as Shanghai’s Mayor Gong Zheng. Cooperation agreements were advanced in areas such as trade, tourism, education, mobility, and artificial intelligence, directly aligned with the themes of Latam Mobility Colombia 2025.

Toward a connected and inclusive transport model

A key highlight was a forum with over 40 Chinese rail companies, where Colombia presented its national vision for sustainable mobility in Colombia, emphasizing railway revitalization. These discussions echo the focus of the Latam Mobility summit, which will gather public and private leaders to map out the region’s sustainable transport strategies.

The Minister also visited China’s National Railway Administration, along with ProColombia and Colombia’s Embassy, to deepen technical and regulatory cooperation. These insights will inform her opening address in Medellín, sparking conversations on how public policy can drive smart mobility solutions.
