Agreement for Sustainable Transport in Chile Strengthens Public Policies

sustainable transport in Chile

The Chilean Energy Sustainability Agency (AgenciaSE) and the Center for Sustainable Mobility (CMS) have signed an agreement for sustainable transport in Chile aimed at strengthening the design and implementation of more effective public policies for cleaner mobility.

During the signing, Rosa Riquelme, Director of AgenciaSE, emphasized the need for institutional collaboration to achieve sustainable, long-term impact.

She stated that this agreement must lead to concrete actions that promote clean technologies, improve quality of life, and foster more equitable and resilient development.

“Collaborative work always multiplies the results,” she said.

Enhancing capabilities to decarbonize transportation

Sebastián Galarza, Executive Director of the CMS, underlined the relevance of this agreement for sustainable transport in Chile in a world where cooperation is increasingly scarce.

He explained that the alliance allows for complementary strengths: AgenciaSE leads pilot implementation, while CMS will contribute with evaluation, information systematization, and knowledge sharing.

This synergy will be essential for improving public policies, scaling up clean mobility projects, and advancing transportation decarbonization.

Collaboration and training as pillars of the agreement

Both institutions agreed that the agreement for sustainable transport in Chile places a strong focus on research, knowledge exchange, and aligning key stakeholders within the ecosystem.

Moreover, it aims to boost human capital and public awareness, which they consider essential for transforming mobility and reducing energy consumption.
