Autel Energy, one of the leaders in technology and vehicle maintenance presented an induction where it explains the steps to follow to be able to perform remote programming with the new changes in its software.
The SERMI scheme, the entity in charge of approving and authorizing independent operators (IO) working in the European automotive aftermarket, continues to be one of the major weaknesses of workshops.
In this regard, Autel presented a preview of what will be the mandatory way of working in a few months, according to European regulations.
Procedure
To adhere to the regulation that will come into force in a few months, Autel urges workshops to register if they want to continue performing cybersecurity and remote programming work.
This means that Autel’s teams will not let them work without prior registration, as a user on the platform that allows access to the manufacturers’ servers.
For this reason, the company has made a video in which it explains how to work with the new tool and how to request permission to perform this type of repairs.
Steps to Follow
According to Autel, the first step is to fill in the registration form in which you have to enter name, surname, country, e-mail, telephone and password.
After that, the account must be verified with a code that will be sent to the e-mail address. Once registered, there is no need to register again. “The Sermi scheme obliges us to carry out this procedure,” says the Autel technician in the audiovisual material.

Once the account is created, in each remote programming operation, it will be necessary to fill in the name, VAT number and e-mail address of your company, as well as the vehicle model and the functions required.
Among the functions included in this section are: control unit changes, programming, maintenance, accessory conditioning, Adas calibrations or key immobilizer.
“The only thing it asks is that you select the car, or if you have already made a diagnosis, import a report with the machine,” the video highlights.
