Julio Ernesto Calderón, Manager of Government Relations at Automotores Toyota Colombia, stated that the company’s vision is to work on different initiatives that lead to sustainable mobility.
“We believe that there is not a single way, not a single solution to the problems we have. All technologies that offer environmental benefits should be well received by the government. That’s why our call is for there to be a real commitment from local governments and the National Government to generate stable benefits,” he emphasized.
Calderón stressed the legal aspect to allow each consumer to responsibly assume, especially in the long term, the investments they will make in mobility technology.

“We need tariff benefits. If we continue selling the same number of hybrid vehicles, we can achieve 100 million dollars in benefits, resulting in greater fuel consumption reduction, lower emissions, and fewer respiratory diseases,” he explained.
“It’s a complete package that needs to surround this. These types of technologies, being relatively new in the market and still in development, have costs that are high,” Calderón added.
Toyota’s Technology
Calderón stated that Automotores Toyota seeks to bring the best technology to the hands of all Colombians, and that it is also accessible.
“If we do not achieve technology accessibility, then clearly we do not achieve democratization and do not manage to create an impact with a few cars,” he pointed out.
Regarding the Latam Mobility meetings, Calderón considers it the ideal place where the entire industry should gather to promote sustainable mobility in Latin America.
“Here, we must be the people who are truly concerned every day about finding solutions to a problem we all know, which is ensuring that our generations and future generations have a quality of life,” he concluded.
