Blink and AES to Deploy Electro-Line Station Project in El Salvador

International companies have seen Central America, and Latin America in general, as fertile territory to invest and develop electromobility technologies.

With more than 40 years of operations in 14 countries, AES, a company that works in the transformation and economic and environmental energy solutions, has entered into an alliance with one of the leading companies in charging infrastructure worldwide, Blink Charging, to promote electric mobility in El Salvador.

According to information released by both organizations, this strategic partnership will stimulate the progressive adoption of sustainable transportation and accelerate the future of energy.

Major Project

The alliance will focus on the deployment of a network of charging stations for electric vehicles in different parts of El Salvador. The agreement will accelerate the transition to cleaner and more sustainable mobility through a chain of electric charging stations that will provide peace of mind during the journey for users of electric transportation in the country.

For the development of the infrastructure, Blink, in addition to supplying and operating the new electric stations, will make the Blink Network software available to users. This allows users to locate the network’s stations or purchase credit to recharge vehicle batteries through the Blink Mobile application and gives Salvadorans the opportunity to access electromobility services in several countries.

It should be noted that Blink Network also offers a management portal so that the administrators of each charging point have access to usage information by charger.

AES, through its Solutions Division, will lead the installation of modern medium and fast charging points in strategic locations of its commercial partners, such as hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls, universities, parks and private parking lots, among others.

Both companies emphasized that in order to promote more environmentally friendly transportation and guarantee its sustainability over time, alliances are needed to enable its development and expansion.

Medium-term Vision

Blink Charging’s Senior Director of Global Operations, Juan Carlos Barahona, pointed out that in the next 8 years it is estimated that the population of electric vehicles in Latin America will double every year. In that sense, partnerships seek to support this level of accelerated growth, which is why more public and private charging points are needed.

“Blink Charging believes in the power of strategic alliances to drive this growth, and we are proud to establish this one with AES”, highlighted the executive.

“One of the main challenges of implementing electromobility in El Salvador is the coverage of charging points for electric vehicles. Together with Blink, we will work to provide an innovative solution to accelerate the introduction of this type of technology in the country,” said Roberto Sandoval, Solutions Division General Manager of AES El Salvador.
