Blink Charging, one of the leading companies in charging infrastructure for electric vehicles worldwide, presents a series of projections that will shape 2025 in this field.
For the company, this year will be one of great progress for electromobility, with trends that will drive the sector in the coming months.
Blink Charging predicts that there will be more driver confidence as battery range increases, given that recent years have shown great advances in electric car technology, enabling greater energy efficiency, faster charging times, and, above all, an expansion in range autonomy.
Likewise, the company projects more accessibility in electric vehicle models and prices as more manufacturers expand their offerings, diversifying options for different segments of the market.
Blink highlights that during 2024, brands like Toyota, KIA, and Suzuki gained popularity among potential buyers thanks to the introduction of more affordable models. For example, the Toyota bZ4X, with a competitive starting price compared to other electric SUVs, positioned itself as an attractive option in various LATAM markets.
Charging Infrastructure
For 2025, Blink Charging anticipates an increase in demand for fast chargers. With the growing need to travel efficiently and meet daily commitments, DC fast charging stations will be a key element for electric vehicle users and companies providing charging infrastructure.
These stations allow batteries to recharge in minutes, significantly reducing wait times for drivers, which is essential for long trips or time-sensitive situations.
Fast chargers provide confidence and security by addressing “range anxiety”, which still affects many EV users.
In established markets like the United States, the number of fast chargers grew by 24% in 2024, with the installation of over 4,200 new ports, according to data from EV Adoption and the Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC); it is projected that by 2030, 182,000 fast chargers will be needed in that country to meet the growing demand.
In Latin America, although the growth of infrastructure is slower, initiatives like that of Blink Charging, which operates a network of DC fast chargers (DCFC) and Level 2 chargers in countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, are driving the development of EV charging infrastructure, including fast charging.
