BYD Aims to Make London a More Sustainable City

The city of London could embrace a cleaner, more sustainable future thanks to the efforts of BYD, as the manufacturer envisions replacing traditional double-decker buses with electric versions without sacrificing the city’s rich history.

To achieve this, BYD has developed the BD11 prototype, a two-story electric bus specifically designed for London’s urban landscape with a range of 644 kilometres and a 532 kWh battery.

All of this without sacrificing the rich history behind London, as one of the city’s attractions and recognitions are its iconic red double-decker buses.

The BD11 is equipped with four electric motors, intelligent active pneumatic suspension, and various driver assistance functions, all developed to perform at the highest level.

With the potential to start operating this year if BYD secures the contract to deploy these electric buses in the city, it will open the door to a new era of public transportation.

Undoubtedly, it will be a significant step for the sustainable transformation that the city of London seeks to implement. Additionally, it is worth noting that other versions will be developed for distribution in other regions.
