BYD sold 514,809 new energy vehicles in December 2024, marking its seventh consecutive month of record sales. This figure represents a 50.95% increase compared to the same period in 2023 and a 1.58% rise from November 2024.
BYD’s total sales in 2024 reached a record-breaking 4.27 million, a 41.26% increase from the previous year. In December, it sold a record 50,940 passenger cars and 5,369 commercial vehicles.
In 2024, BYD sold nearly 2.5 million passenger PHEVs, a 72.83% increase compared to the previous year. The brand also experienced steady growth in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, selling over 1.76 million passenger BEVs in 2024, a 12.08% year-over-year increase.

Global Impact
It is noteworthy that BYD sold just 25,000 fewer BEVs than Tesla last year (1.79 million).
In 2024, the company sold 417,204 vehicles in foreign markets, a 71.86% year-over-year increase. In December alone, BYD sold 57,154 vehicles abroad, marking significant year-over-year and month-over-month growth.
The company’s market success is also reflected in its battery business. The installed capacity of BYD’s energy storage and power batteries reached approximately 194.705 GWh for the entire year 2024, representing a 29.02% year-over-year increase.
