BYD Introduces First U8 Luxury SUV and U9 All-Electric Supercar under Yangwang Premium Brand

In its ambitious goal to establish itself as one of the leading manufacturers of new energy vehicles, BYD is starting 2023 by making a big move with the introduction of a high-end sub-brand.

It is “Yangwang” which comes with a great technology known as e4 Platform. The new energy SUV Yangwang U8 and the all-electric supercar Yangwang U9, are the mainstays of this firm’s foray into the automotive industry.

The high-performance sports car has a unique construction and ultra-modern design, reproduced in detail on a Yangwang U9 3D model by Hum3D.

Through a press release, BYD detailed that all future models of the Yangwang brand will incorporate the e4 Platform, the first with four-motor independent propulsion technology mass-produced in China.

In addition, the innovation is designed to guarantee customers a world-class level of safety. Compared to the powertrain of conventional fuel vehicles, it is capable of fine-tuning four-wheel dynamics thanks to vectoring control.

Vehicle Attributes

Yangwang will be the first to apply BYD Group‘s cutting-edge technologies and will offer customers safety, performance and a great experience even in extreme driving conditions, as explained by Wang Chuanfu, President of BYD at the launch.

The e4 Platform is a system with a four-motor independent drive as its core, which completely reconfigures the attributes of new energy vehicles in terms of perception, decision-making and execution, reshaping the propulsion system capabilities of conventional fuel vehicles.

The principle of this technology appeared in the ET prototype launched by BYD twenty years ago, which was inspired by the perfect posture control of a cheetah.

Guaranteed Safety

The e4 Platform can provide greater safety to users, as it can control the vehicle’s movement by regulating the touch of the wheels in real time. For example, if one tire loses air, the technology can adjust with millisecond precision the torque of the remaining three wheels, helping the vehicle to stop more stably.

Models equipped with BYD’s new technology also adopt IP68-rated waterproofing and body sealing to enable the vehicles to float on water thanks to independent vectoring control of all four wheels, demonstrating much greater potential .

In the days ahead, Yangwang will continue to spearhead BYD’s technical innovations, taking on advanced technologies, constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation, and commercializing the results of its R&D into epoch-making products for customers and the industry.
