BYD: Key Player at COP28

BYD, one of the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers, presented its high-impact contributions to sustainable development at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.

Michael Shu, Managing Director of BYD Europe, attended the meeting and spoke about green practices in line with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Leveraging BYD‘s extensive experience in actively contributing to the initiative, Shu shared information on fostering sustainable development for the Belt and Road’s new energy technology enterprises.

Innovative Roadmap

“A decade ago, in response to the a initiative, BYD adopted an open and collaborative approach, which expands its presence across the route gradually,” Shu said.

“Our transformative journey, evolving from global product and technology diffusion to leading the transition to green energy, perfectly illustrates our unwavering commitment to cultivating economic growth and employment in the Belt and Road regions,” he added.

As a strong advocate of green innovation, BYD actively upholds climate commitments through green solutions and concrete actions.

In a momentous step it took last year, BYD became the first automaker in the world to cease production of vehicles with combustion engines.

BYD’s unique advantages in the new energy sector were further demonstrated by establishing the first Zero Carbon Industrial Campus for a Chinese automotive brand at its global headquarters in Shenzhen.

The recognition of BYD’s Zero Carbon Industrial Campus, SkyRail, and SkyShuttle among Shenzhen’s top ten low-carbon initiatives at the Shenzhen Session of the China Pavilion on December 5 demonstrates the company’s leadership in sustainable practices.

During COP28, BYD also officially announced a collaboration with the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), aimed at jointly driving electric mobility and energy transformation processes in the 27 Latin American and Caribbean member countries.

This strategic initiative reaffirmed BYD’s commitment to driving the global green transformation.
