BYD Signs Alliance with OLADE to Promote Electromobility in Latin America

BYD Ecuador (BYD) and the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) announced that they recently formalized an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement, with the objective of advancing the cause of electric mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean.

OLADE, under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Andrés Rebolledo Smitmans, and BYD, represented by Jorge Burbano, Country Manager of BYD Ecuador, signed the agreement to promote electric vehicles and accelerate energy transitions in the region.

The collaboration will include crucial elements such as the promotion of sustainable mobility, workshops and specialized training in electromobility.

Public and Private Sectors

OLADE specified that these initiatives will target both the public and private sectors, academia, specialized guilds and civil society in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition, the alliance will include technical visits and demonstrations at OLADE’s facilities, focused specifically on electromobility, for universities, technology centers, educational institutions, trade associations and related organizations.

In addition, BYD vehicles will be used in OLADE‘s electromobility studies, aligning with its work plans.

BYD will contribute significantly to this collaboration by providing a TANG EV electric vehicle model along with a charging station. This equipment will be used to demonstrate the electric infrastructure and vehicle range, emphasizing the advantages of electric vehicles.

Joining Forces

Jorge Burbano, Country Manager of BYD Ecuador, commented on the alliance that they are honored to collaborate with OLADE, leveraging expertise in electric mobility and energy solutions.

OLADE Executive Secretary Andrés Rebolledo highlighted the importance of the recent agreement as a key commitment to regional energy integration and cooperation for the benefit of OLADE’s 27 member countries.

He stressed the importance of the transition towards a sustainable vision in Latin America and the Caribbean, advocating for a long-term perspective in energy integration.
