The Chinese company BYD, a leader in electric mobility, has announced that it will begin manufacturing vehicles in Brazil as of March 2025.
The new plant will be located in the state of Bahia and represents a key investment for the region, featuring advanced and sustainable technology. This move aligns with BYD’s global expansion strategy, focusing on Latin America.
The initial production capacity will be 150,000 vehicles annually, with plans to double this figure by 2026, reaching 300,000 units.

Among the models to be produced is a hybrid system that combines electric, gasoline, and ethanol engines, tailored to the Brazilian market and its alternative fuel policies.
Project Projections
This project is expected to generate approximately 20,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2026, revitalizing the local economy.
The facility will also include research and development, reaffirming BYD’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the region.
With this move, BYD continues to position itself as a leader in the electric and sustainable vehicle industry while solidifying its presence in one of the world’s most important emerging markets.
Finally, Brazilian production will meet the growing regional demand and support the energy transition in Latin America.
