BYD Tops Two Finalists in the World Car Awards 2024

Two BYD models are finalists in the World Car Awards 2024. They are the BYD Seal sedan and the BYD iDolphin hatchback, both 100% electric and built with the brand’s latest technologies.

The Jury is made up of more than 100 journalists from 29 countries and this year will choose winners in six categories: World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, World Urban Car, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car and World Car Design of the Year.

Specifically, the BYD Seal qualified in the “Top Ten” selection for the most relevant award of all: the World Car of the Year 2024. The model was chosen from an initial shortlist of 38 candidates and is one of the five 100% electric models included in this group.

Attributes

The SEAL uses a two-motor electric scheme, which in total produces 522 hp of power. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and it has a Blade LFP battery with 82.6 kWh capacity, which allows it to offer up to 520 km of range.

For its part, the BYD iDolphin is part of the “Top Five” that will compete in the World Urban Car 2024 category along with other compact crossovers and hatchbacks.

It has a front engine that delivers 94 hp of power (70 kW) and an instant torque of 180 Nm. It is powered by a Blade LFP battery with a capacity of 44.9 kWh, which offers up to 405 km of range under the NEDC cycle. Both cars use the modern e-Platform 3.0 architecture, developed exclusively by the brand.

The World Car Awards 2024 will be unveiled on March 27, 2024 at a special ceremony at the opening of the New York Auto Show.
