BYD has a strong presence in the heavy vehicle market in Latin America. In Colombia, the Chinese multinational is the leader in electric buses in Colombia, with more than 1,550 units operating in different mass transit systems, most of them in Transmilenio.
In addition, the Asian manufacturer has a fleet of around one hundred electric cabs and special service vehicles in operation for more than 10 years, with an average of 600,000 kilometers per vehicle, as well as passenger vehicles and forklifts portfolio.
To consolidate these figures, BYD is extending its sustainable mobility offer to cargo transportation with three new truck references available for the Colombian market.

Models Details
The first model is the T45C01 truck, which has a range of approximately 220 kilometers (km), a load capacity of 3.6 tons and a lift capacity of 25%, ideal for package and last mile operations.
Likewise, the T7BG, which has an operating range of 230 km and a climb capacity of 30%. Additionally, the T10DSJ, with a higher range of 250 km, approximately 24 tons of load capacity and with vocation to become a cement or cleaning truck.
Juan Luis Mesa, General Manager of BYD Colombia, considers that the main niche of the company with these references are urban operations or eventually metropolitan areas and contiguous cities with a range of distance between 200 and 250 kilometers, taking into account some limitations that still exist in terms of charging infrastructure in the country for long-distance travel.
In a press release issued by BYD, the executive adds that in urban logistics there is a great opportunity to implement electric charging vehicles, “since it is precisely in these areas where there is the greatest need to improve environmental standards of noise generation and gas emissions, since it is where there is a greater concentration of population”.
With the presentation of these vehicles, BYD already has pilot plans underway in different cities of Colombia with companies of recognized importance, especially in the cement, beverage and logistics sectors, so according to the brand, very soon you will begin to see BYD trucks rolling on the roads of the country.
