Cali’s “Ciclovida” Boosts Sustainable Mobility in Colombia

A few days ago, the Ciclovida of Cali, Colombia, welcomed thousands of cyclists in a special day focused on sustainable mobility, with the purpose of building a purer, more active, safer and healthier city.

During the event, the concept of sustainable mobility was promoted, encouraging the use of means of transportation that reduce environmental impact, such as walking, running and cycling.

The authorities based their message on four fundamental pillars: energy efficiency; reduction of polluting emissions; promotion of health and social equity.

Activities

During the initiative, the children enjoyed a craft workshop entitled ‘What does a sustainable city look like?’, in which they learned about the importance of an environmentally friendly city.

The activity culminated with a group game to reinforce learning in an active, fun and recreational way.
In coordination with the District Public Health Secretariat and the Red de Salud Norte, ESE Norte, the Ciclovida also offered a comprehensive health day at the Torres de Comfandi station.

The activity was focused on the prevention and early detection of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), providing free checkups, awareness activities and education for the welfare of citizens.

On its official website, the government of Cali states that with its 38 kilometers and 11 stations, the Ciclovida mobilizes and activates more than 93,000 users every Sunday, consolidating itself as the most impactful space in the promotion of sport and recreation in the city.

The Ciclovida of Cali is ratified as a meeting place for sports, recreation and the construction of a community more aware of its environment.
