Chile Advances in Charging Infrastructure Regulation

The Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC) in Chile is conducting evaluations of electric vehicle charging stations to ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and other requirements.

To date, 436 out of 492 stations have been inspected, representing nearly 90% of the country’s total infrastructure.

This activity is part of the Plan for Public Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Inspection and Monitoring, which aims to ensure the proper operation and safety of the EV charging network.

Details of the Inspections

The inspections included on-site measurements using specialized electromobility equipment, with safety and operational tests conducted at these facilities.

According to the SEC, this effort was complemented by a technical training program, both theoretical and practical, provided to the Regional Directorate of SEC Aysén by professionals from the institution’s Sustainability Unit.

This initiative strengthened regional capabilities in the field of electromobility. The training focused on inspecting a charging station and verifying its proper and safe operation.
