The Ministry of Energy of Chile, together with the Energy Sustainability Agency (AgenciaSE), published the “Study to Quantify the Impacts of Electromobility on the Chilean Electric System and the Cost-Benefit of Flexibility Strategies for Electric Vehicles”.
The research was conducted within the framework of the GEF7 Electromobility Project, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
According to the agency, the document represents a key step in the development of public policies that promote a sustainable energy transition.
Key Stakeholders
The study was carried out through a joint effort between public and private sectors, involving the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, the Ministry of the Environment, the National Energy Commission (CNE), the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC), the Sustainable Acceleration Center for Electromobility (CASE), the Sustainable Mobility Center (CMS), and the National Federation of Electric Cooperatives (FENACOPEL).
From the private sector, contributors included Transelec, Copec Voltex, Enel X Way, Enex, Dhemax, as well as representatives from academia, service providers, regional authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
The work has generated specific recommendations for integrating electric vehicles as distributed energy resources, improving the flexibility and resilience of Chile’s electric system.
