Transdev’s largest bus operation, RBU Santiago, in Chile, improved its service score and ranking for frequency and regularity with the local transport authority using Optibus’ Planning, Scheduling, EVs and Rostering software.
In a press release, Optibus detailed that the entire process took only six months, providing better services to 70 million passengers annually in the Chilean capital.
The operation has improved RBU Santiago’s operational performance indicators, making them one of the main operators within the capital’s transport system.
In the process, RBU Santiago improved its compliance with Chile’s Metropolitan Public Transport Authority, the Dirección de Transporte Público Metropolitano (DTPM).

RBU Santiago approached Optibus seeking to increase its operational efficiency and digitize manual processes.
According to Optibus, within just two weeks of implementation, its team was already using parts of the platform with the help of the implementation team.
In the following six months, Optibus’ Electric Vehicle (EV) Planning and Scheduling products were fully implemented in all of its operational areas in Santiago, which helped RBU Santiago achieve several KPIs, including emissions reduction and electric bus planning.

Rainier Rojas, Director of Operations at Transdev Chile, the parent company of RBU Santiago, noted that the speed of Optibus optimizations, in addition to the transparency and visibility it allows, made meeting deadlines much less challenging.
“We could not have kept pace without Optibus,” he assured.
That rapid implementation allowed RBU Santiago to begin fully utilizing Optibus software and see results at an accelerated pace.
The increased speed of work and digitization especially helped RBU Santiago to work with the transport authority, the DTPM, which had recently changed its timetables and needed new RBU Santiago timetables under tight deadlines.
