Chile: Public and Private Sectors Progress on Roadmap to Expand Electromobility

Chile’s Energy Sustainability Agency (AgenciaSE), through the Electromobility Accelerator, financed by the Ministry of Energy, held a matchmaking session on November 14 at the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH), with the participation of public and private actors and representatives from academia.

In an official communiqué, the agency explained that the purpose of the meeting was to bring beneficiary organizations closer to the technological offer of products and services, to know the market in greater detail and thus determine which options best fit their needs.

According to the Undersecretary of Energy, Luis Felipe Ramos, this type of event allows progress to be made towards the goals established by the Government in the Roadmap 2050.

“We are working on a series of initiatives that will allow us to generate an ecosystem that will help develop electromobility.

In this first stage of the Roadmap, the emphasis is on the public transport part, but also in companies,” he explained.

Initiatives such as the Accelerator help to advance in this line, generating capabilities in organizations, pilot projects, and also a strategic vision so that they can implement and develop in this area,” he added.

Electric Mobility Scope

The Director of AgenciaSE, Rosa Riquelme, added that the conference allows to see what electromobility is and to establish a working table with the questions regarding this technology, since companies that have been behind the development of the ecosystem are present.

Electromobility is now and it depends on those who can make decisions to do so with the best possible information.

We have an opportunity as a country for electromobility to develop and we must take advantage of it,” he stressed.

For the Head of the Electromobility Accelerator program, Ignacio Tapia, the activity fulfilled its objective, since it brought together not only public and private actors, but also had an important participation of academia, which is key to generate collaboration networks.
