In December 2024, Blink Charging UK announced the next phase of its collaboration with the Norfolk County Council to support the region’s transition toward a greener future.
Between December 2024 and February 2025, 22 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed across 12 locations, bringing the total number of stations in the Norwich area to 46.
Since early 2023, Blink Charging UK has been deploying accessible charging stations on Norwich streets, providing the necessary infrastructure for residents who own electric vehicles.

Blink Charging: Progress and Future Plans
To date, 24 chargers have been installed in residential areas, facilitating sustainable transportation for those without access to private parking. This effort is part of the Council’s plan to boost EV adoption, reduce emissions, and develop the required infrastructure.
Graham Plant, Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure, and Transport at Norfolk County Council, stated:
“We are ambitious about achieving a greener and cleaner future for Norfolk, and having the right infrastructure is vital to help people switch to electric vehicles.”
Of the chargers already installed, 19 are operational. Initial data shows they have delivered 3,086 kWh of energy, equating to 10,801 miles driven and a reduction of 2,607.372 kg of CO₂.
Meanwhile, Alex Calnan, Managing Director of Blink Charging UK, commented:
“Our partnership with Norfolk County Council demonstrates how strong collaboration can help cities like Norwich build the infrastructure needed to support the growing number of EV users.”
Residents in areas where new chargers will be installed will receive prior notifications about installation dates, and an official informational notice will be published before work begins.
Some parking restrictions adjacent to charging stations may be reviewed to maximize access; any proposed changes will be subject to consultation with residents before being finalized.
Finally, the new chargers will include 22 kW fast-charging units and 50-100 kW ultra-fast chargers, ideal for on-street residential locations.
